WWII Weekend at Bedford Springs

Throughout the weekend, explore the Bedford Springs resort and learn of its unique place in 1940s history as reenactors, authors, historians, and a Saturday night movie bring the decade to life.Established over 200 years ago, the resort has hosted the likes of presidents and celebrities. During World War II, however, the United States Government used the hotel as a school to train naval radio operators. Early in 1945, the hotel was used to imprison captured Japanese diplomats posted to Germany (as recounted in Ellen’s novel). The hotel reopened after the war. The establishment was designated a national historical landmark in 1984—two years before it closed its doors for nearly twenty years. - East City Bookshop
